Character Number: 2nd
Character Name: Dominic
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Personality: A bit on the shy side, Dominic isn’t the most outgoing of people. This is especially obvious around girls, since he hasn’t gotten used to the attention he will oftentimes get. He makes friends easily enough, but more often than not, they remain simple acquaintances, just people he talks to. He has very few true friends, the people he will confide in or go to for help when he needs it. Moral and honest, he has a good idea of right and wrong, what is acceptable and what isn’t. He’s not one for going out and getting into mischief. He’d much rather be out and working, or helping out someone. He has a great desire to do good and is very self-sacrificing, putting everyone else before himself. Some think he’d be better off being a little more selfish so he would take better care of his own needs. When others thank him for help he has given, he’ll wave the compliments away, being a very humble individual. He doesn’t take much pride in the things he does; it’s just something he does, nothing more, nothing praiseworthy. Dominic is highly faithful, always keeping his promises. Loyal, constant, ever the reliable one, he is always someone you can turn to.
Appearance: Dominic is a tall and rangy male, about 6’2, with the thin look of a male who had just finished growing. Limbs are long and lanky, corded with muscle. His large hands and feet used to look awkward until he grew into them. Now he still looks somewhat awkward, but only because he isn’t quite sure of his balance yet. It may take him quite a while to find his center, but when he does, he ought to be a killer dance partner. Taut muscles lie tightly over bone and under skin, creating a hypnotizing effect whenever he moves. He hasn’t quite gotten used to the stares from the female persuasion he gets whenever he walks around shirtless, and so now takes to always covering up to avoid them. Not quite used to his strength, he has to be very careful when handling things. It is so very easy to break a glass or bruise someone if he isn’t careful.
Sepia colored, silky hair covers Dominic’s scalp, trimmed short in the back and longer in the front, leaving the longer bits to frame a lightly tanned face. From his skin color, it is obvious that he originally was never very dark. If he didn’t go out as often as he does, he’d become milk pale in no time, loosing what little tan he had fought to gain. Black, narrow eyes stare broodingly out from under thin eyebrows a shade darker than Dominic’s hair, making them nearly black in color. Dark, thick lashes surround his eyes, almost making it appear like he rims his lids in kohl. He has gotten enough accusations about it over the turns that he is likely to become snappish if you ever mention it to him. A thin, sculpted nose rests on his face, complimenting his high cheekbones and firm lips, which are often tilted to one side in a crooked smile.
History: Born and raised in Crom Hold, Dominic has a good work sense. He knows how hard others in the hold work to support themselves and other, just to keep the hold moving forward. He wanted to be a part of this, so he began to help out as soon as he could, when he was about eight turns of age. He would go out with the farmers of the hold, helping them to load up fruits and vegetable to be sent back to the hold for washing and storage until they were needed for food or tithe. Farming seemed to work out for him, which was a good thing as far as his mother saw. She didn’t want Dominic working in the mines, since she saw it as very dangerous work.
This was intensified when Dominic was ten turns of age. His father had gone down to the mines in the morning, like he always did. Only when his shift was over, he never came home. There had been a cave-in, and Donick had been pinned with a large rock. This rock had crushed his lungs, so he didn’t live very long after the cave-in. Donick’s death left Mina with a ten turn son and a five turn daughter, forcing her to work harder to support herself and her children. However, two turns later Mina remarried, bringing a new husband and son into the family. Nokai proved to be a good father for Dominic, who flourished under the man’s are. He also had a foster brother to rough-house with, the two becoming best friends very quickly.
So life went on until it was time for the new tithe. Nokai decided to allow Dominic to travel with it, wanting him to experience new things. On the way, Dominic met an odd woman who asked him the strangest thing to which he found himself agreeing, forever changing his life when he became a candidate of the hidden Crater Weyr.
